Montana called himself an Artist in his bio, tagging his record label to reaffirm his place in the music industry.
In a shocking twist, he also wrote "Solo hace falta un mal día" in his bio, which roughly translates to "It only takes one bad day."
What happened to Chuy Montana?
Around noon on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, Chuy Montana's body was found on the side of the Playas de Rosarito-Tijuana highway.
Police said that a group of armed men, potentially with cartel ties, allegedly ambushed the singer, as reported by Punto Norte.
The men then tried to kidnap Montana, who reportedly put up a fight and tried to throw himself out of a vehicle, despite his hands being secured in handcuffs.
The fall itself left Montana with several injuries, but in a horrific turn of events, the group of men then opened fire on him.
Montana was reportedly shot several times in his arms and in the back of the head.
Police found at least five shell casings at the scene of the crime.
Montana was found, deceased, next to an orange van.
Montana's record label, Street Mob Records, confirmed the news on their Instagram account, releasing a heartbreaking statement.
"On behalf of Street Mob Records, we deeply regret the passing of out colleague and brother Chuy Montana."
"We stand in solidarity with his family during this time of grief," they added.
"We kindly request understanding and respect from the media at this difficult moment."
Chuy Montana's fans were left devastated after hearing the news.
His Instagram was flooded with comments from his supporters.
"Descansa en paz," wrote many users, which translates to "Rest in peace."
"Vuela alto," wrote another, which translates to "Fly high."
"Rest in peace Chuy, fly high," wrote another, alongside two dove emojis.
